Defend Earth: Xenos Survivors is a top-down roguelite shooter in the style of Vampire Survivors or 20 Minutes till Dawn. Unique to Defend Earth: Xenos Survivors is its science fiction setting on Earth. The player defends Berlin, Paris and many other well-known locations against an endless horde of aliens in 3D with strong special effects. As usual in the genre, the player builds his character in each run and attacks are triggered automatically. New is an additional ultimate ability and different attack patterns of the aliens, e.g. melee and ranged fighters.
Reija released Defend Earth: Xenos Survivors in Early Access in mid-January 2023. Every 14 days, the team releases a major update with new features. This was followed by the new agent „Vulcan“ on February 3 and the Research Station with powerful weapon augmentations on February 21.
Setting
Earth in the year 2058. A rampant alien invasion is threatening humanity’s survival. Our regular troops are overwhelmed. Humanity’s only hope is a group of elite soldiers who, under the code name „DEFCON: Xenos“, form the last weapon against the Xeno threat. Your mission is simple: Repel the Alien invasion.
Defend yourself against an onslaught of monstrous aliens in a variety of cities and landscapes of our beloved home: Earth. Combine equipment from your powerful arsenal of weapons, modules, and upgrades in order to face stronger and smarter aliens that provide an evergrowing challenge.
Gameplay
Combat
Draft powerful abilities by leveling up which automatically attack your enemies. Each weapon provides unique attack patterns and applications. Maximize them by drafting passive abilities with different utilities. But be thoughtful about your limited choices!
Upgrade your Gear
Collect Aether-Capsules to equip your character with additional skills to increase your survivability. Unlock and obtain additional characters and powerful ultimate abilities which can be charged and released against your enemies.

Continuously defeat all upcoming enemies to win the stage
Ultimate Abilities
You can unlock Ultimate Abilities that can be used in your missions after you have charged them.
Our Home
Travel to places like Paris, Berlin, or Nevada to defend them from the invaders. The levels in Defend Earth: Xenos Survivors are built by hand and are meant to represent places on our planet.
More planned content
- Random side missions on the world map that can be completed for different rewards. These missions will add more variety to the gameplay and provide players with additional challenges to complete.
- Players can collect powerful items in this game to enhance their gameplay experience. One such item is the Collector, which is obtained by completing certain levels. With the Collector, players can collect every experience orb on the entire map, making it an invaluable tool for quickly leveling up. Another powerful collectible allows players to call in a devastating air strike, capable of wiping out entire waves of enemies.
- To make the game even more challenging and engaging, we are planning to introduce a host of new enemies that will have unique attack patterns and behavior
- In addition to completing missions, players will be able to earn ranks with their agents. This will allow players to improve their agents and make them even more powerful, which will come in handy when facing tougher enemies.
- The game will have many more agents to unlock. This means that there will always be something new to look forward to, and players will have more options to choose from when embarking on a mission
- There will be new weapons, modules, and ultimate abilities to add more variety to the gameplay and to provide players with more ways to approach challenges.
- New levels will be added to the game, such as the Nevada military base and a secret research facility. These new levels will offer new challenges and opportunities for players to show off their skills.
- The game will be localized into other languages to make it accessible to a wider audience.
- Enhanced draft mechanics will be implemented for better control of the players in-run builds. This will give players more control over their gameplay experience and allow them to fine-tune their strategies even further.
TEAM
Reija GmbH is a young indie developer team with locations in Berlin and Karlsruhe. Launched in 2019, Reija’s goal is to develop successful games with challenging game mechanics, appealing 3D graphics and action-packed settings. Three of the most renowned funding and cultural organizations in Germany are convinced of the vision and competence of the team and thus are long-term supporters of the projects.
